Colorado industrial park owner sues Weld County and GlobalAI over data center approval

Broe Companies, owner of the adjacent 3,000 acre Great Western Industrial Park, and other plaintiffs sued Weld County and GlobalAI alleging commissioners improperly helped the developer line up electric power, changed county rules to fit the project, and ignored three stop work orders issued after construction began without permits. Weld County commissioners had approved the 41 acre first phase 5 to 0 at the former Eastman Kodak and Carestream site outside Greeley. The county and developer have not yet filed a response in court.

Aurora Colorado 500 megawatt Vantage data center advances without required public hearing

Planning documents filed with Aurora show Vantage Data Centers seeking a use by right rezoning for a 143 acre site near E 470 and East 48th Avenue to build two buildings totaling roughly 862,000 square feet, with 334 megawatts of IT capacity and about 500 megawatts of total electrical demand. At full buildout, the campus would use about 11 times the power of Denver International Airport. Because Aurora allows data centers by right in the zone, no public hearing is required. The property sits in a residential area of the city's third largest population center.
