Westfield Planning Board denies three year permit extension for proposed data center

The Westfield, Massachusetts Planning Board denied the request from Servistar to extend by three years the special permit for a $4 billion data center project first approved in 2021. The city has a separate 365 day moratorium on new data centers that had exempted Servistar. Residents at a September hearing raised noise and environmental concerns and said they had been excluded from early discussions.
